Waystones Get a Whole New Look (and a Big Bug Squashed)

Today was a big one for waystones. We rebuilt how you browse and travel between waystones from the ground up, added per‑waystone custom icons, and fixed a long‑standing bug that quietly moved your waystones back to where they used to be. Here's everything that changed.

🐛 The fix everyone will feel: waystones stay where you put them

If you've ever moved a waystone, walked away, and come back after a restart to find it sitting at its old location — that wasn't in your head. It was a real bug.

When you moved a waystone, the new coordinates were saved to the in‑game cache but never written to the database. Everything looked correct for the rest of the session, but the next time the server loaded waystones from disk, it read the stale coordinates and snapped the waystone back.

The save routine was updating a waystone's name, toll, and destination — but the world, x, y, and z columns were missing from the update entirely. They're in now. Moves persist properly through restarts.

Heads up: any waystone moved before this fix still has stale coordinates stored. Move it once more after updating and it'll correct itself.

🧭 A brand‑new waystone menu

The old menu was a plain vertical list of buttons. The new one is a proper double‑chest interface, laid out to put everything one click away.

Main menu

  • Hubs — your server's major settlements sit across the top for instant travel.
  • Info — a new button that opens an in‑depth explainer covering waystones, discovery, hubs, favourites, respawn points, and travel costs. Hover for a quick summary, click for the full rundown.
  • Respawn Point — bind any waystone as your respawn point and it shows up here for a free teleport home. No respawn set yet? The button tells you, and clicking it opens a picker to choose one.
  • Favourites & recents — the seven head slots show the waystones you've starred, and automatically fill any empty slots with places you've visited recently.
  • Resource World — jump straight to the current rotation world (more on this below).
  • Edit / Network / Settings — quick access to editing the current waystone, browsing the full network, and your personal settings.

The waystone network list

A paginated, searchable, filterable list of every waystone available to you, wrapped in a clean glass border. Cycle the filter through All Available, My Waystones, Shared With Me, Hubs, Public, and Private. Search by name. Page through with the arrows when there's more than one screen.

Click actions, everywhere

Every waystone in every menu now tells you what it is on hover — owner, world, exact location, distance, and cost — plus what your clicks do:

  • Left‑click to teleport
  • Right‑click to edit (if you own it or you're staff)

🎨 Custom waystone icons

Waystones no longer have to be plain player heads. From a waystone's Edit screen, the new Set Icon button opens a browser of every icon in the rpg‑icons pack plus every vanilla Minecraft item — filterable by category and searchable by name, just like the waystone list.

Pick an icon and it replaces the head everywhere that waystone appears. By default a waystone still shows its creator's player head; your chosen icon simply overrides it. Prefer the head back? There's a reset button in the picker.

🌍 Resource world icons that match the biome

The Resource World button now reflects what you're actually travelling to. Its tooltip names the current rotation world and its environment, and the icon swaps to match the biome:

  • Forest — Oak Log
  • Desert — Sand
  • Snow / Ice — Snow Block
  • Nether — Netherrack
  • Ocean — Prismarine
  • Cave — Diamond Block
  • Jungle — Bamboo
  • Mushroom — Mushroom Block
  • Everything else — Grass Block

🏠 The Respawn Warpstone got a new face

The free‑teleport stone that sits in your crafting slot now wears the home icon, matching the Respawn Point button in the main menu — so it's instantly recognisable for what it does.

🤝 "Just Visit" a claimable waystone

When you open a waystone whose owner has been away long enough to make it claimable, you still get the claim prompt — but declining no longer locks you out. The second button is now Just Visit, which drops you straight into the normal waystone menu so you can teleport or browse without taking ownership.

✨ Little polish

  • Tooltip action lines use crisp custom glyphs for the arrow and edit icons (with a font reset so the label text always renders cleanly).
  • The utility icons throughout the menus use the matching iconic‑utils glyph set, with sensible vanilla fallbacks if the pack isn't loaded.

That's the lot. Right‑click a waystone and take the new menu for a spin — and enjoy your waystones finally staying exactly where you left them.
