Grab your rod — the Summer Fishing Tournament is officially open, running now through August 31. Every fish you catch this summer counts toward something, and there is a brand new Cosmetic Shop waiting for anyone who turns one in.
How it works
Find the Tournament Angler — a new NPC, separate from the regular Fishmonger — and turn in your catch. For every fish you hand over, you get to choose your payout: Scales, same as always, or Fish Event Tokens, a new currency that only exists for the summer. Either way, your fish still counts toward the leaderboards below — the choice is just about what you want in your pocket.
Three ways to compete
Most Fish is the headline race — whoever turns in the most fish by the end of summer takes the grand prize. Biggest Fish rewards whoever lands the single largest catch of the whole event, so that one legendary lunker you have been chasing finally has a reason to count for something extra. Tier Master rewards anglers who go after quality over quantity — rarer fish are worth more here, so a handful of big rarities can outscore a pile of common ones.
All three have their own leaderboard, right here on the site, updating live as people turn in their catch — and their own prize and badge at the end of the event.
The Cosmetic Shop
Fish Event Tokens spend at the new Cosmetic Shop: a Bucket Hat, a cosmetic Fishing Rod, a Fishing Backpack, and a Fish Balloon — each one in Bamboo, Cherry Blossom, and Slime styles. These are purely for show, no stat bonuses attached, just a way to look good while you fish. Check out the full gallery over on the tournament's event page.
Fishing Frenzies
Separately from the tournament, keep an eye (and an ear) out for Fishing Frenzies — short, spontaneous fishing races that can break out anywhere, any time, all year round. Opt in and you will get a heads-up when one is about to start, pointing you to the Verdant Coast. Show up, fish inside the marked zone before the timer runs out, and the best catch wins. While the tournament is live, Frenzy wins pay out bonus Fish Event Tokens too — so it is worth opting in all summer long.
Grace period
The tournament itself wraps up August 31, but you will have a 10-day grace period through September 10 to finish spending your Tokens at the shop, or trade in whatever is left for Scales. After that, unspent Tokens are gone — so do not let them sit around.
Good luck out there, and tight lines. 🎣
